Another day, another system intrusion and this time it’s Sony’s Station.com.
Station.com is Sony’s portal and account system for their popular MMOPRG titles such as Everquest and the more recently released DC Universe Online.
At the moment we don’t really know exactly what has happened but it is obviously a serious enough problem for the site has been taken offline. The Statement from Sony reads:
We have had to take the SOE service down temporarily. In the course of our investigation into the intrusion into our systems we have discovered an issue that warrants enough concern for us to take the service down effective immediately. We will provide an update later today (Monday).
This could be a serious issue as MMORPG gamers use this Station.com site to handle accounts and billing for their games. There has been some reports from users that their account passwords have changed and we have spotted a few threasds from users saying their credit card details have been stolen in the last couple of days.
We’ll keep you posted when we hear more but it’s not good news for Sony who is trying to recover from the PSN hack.
