Ubisoft Hyper Scape Season 3 Shadow Rising

Hyper Scape is gearing up for Season 3: Shadow Rising, coming this March

Updating simulation.

It’s been a while since we’ve had much to say about Hyper Scape, but it appears that Ubisoft isn’t ready to give up on the game just yet. In fact, it seems like the developer is digging in to try and turn things around. Season 3 is coming to Hyper Scape on March 11, and it bears the title of Shadow Rising. What’s more, there’s a new narrative trailer that suggests big changes are coming to the world.

As we can see in the new trailer, a mysterious structure is hovering above Neo Arcadia and appears to be under the influence of a powerful force called Tower. Aside from its presence, there are strange new Hacks appearing in the world. A player can be seen utilizing one of these to counter an enemy squad before finishing them off. However, the powerful new tech has not gone unnoticed. A squad of agents show up to apprehend the player for cheating. Meanwhile, all of this is caught on camera by an investigative individual.

It’s hard to say what exactly is going on in the world, but Ubisoft clearly hopes it will excite players enough to jump in and track down clues to progress the story and find out. Most Hyper Scape players are likely more interested to see what gameplay changes are coming in Season 3: Shadow Rising, though. Ubisoft has plenty of those too.

Check out what’s new

There are a few key things to take note of if you haven’t kept up with Hyper Scape since the initial, erm, hype. For starters, the map is now on a full 2.0 iteration. Ubisoft promises it will be far easier to identify the different zones thanks to diversified terrain and new landmarks. All in all, these changes should help to prevent the feeling of being lost.

Likewise, the new Hack we mentioned is called Firewall. You can deploy it to create a defensive barrier which you can fire through from your end. It sounds powerful, so let’s hope it’s balanced.

You also might be interested to know that there’s a permanent Team Deathmatch mode now. You can still go in solo or as a squad in the Crown Rush battle royale mode though. It does seem like an interesting shift for the game. Perhaps Ubisoft is considering a pivot?

As for the cosmetics…

There is of course a Season 3: Shadow Rising Battle Pass for Hyper Scape. It will be available for 950 Bitcrowns and feature outfits, weapon charms, and weapon skins. You know the format to expect by now. You can preview more of the cosmetics by inspecting the Battle Pass in-game.

One thing that’s quite interesting about this game though, is that Ubisoft apparently lets players progress their Battle Passes by watching Twitch streams. While the the livelihood of Hyper Scape is still in question, you do have to hand it to Ubisoft for coming up with useful ways for players to get more out of the game.
