The crowds bayed for a new boss, and the ever-attentive team at Crytek has once again delivered. Along with an entirely new engine overhaul, new map, all new weapons, and much more comes the new roaming boss in Hunt: Showdown. Here are a few tips and tricks for you to quickly find and kill Hellborn in Hunt: Showdown Mammons Gulch.
How to find Hellborn in Mammons Gulch
Locating Hellborn in Hunt: Showdown Mammons Gulch is a completely new mechanic for the game. Unlike all the other bosses, this one will require you to use your headphones and the binaural sound they use. You and your team will need to listen out for where it is on the map rather than relying on clues.
Hellborn in Hunt: Showdown is a roaming boss, like RotJaw. However, it is mostly around compounds and in the centre of the map and can attack at any moment.
To initiate the Hellborn location, you must enter into darksight, and stay in there for about ten seconds. Eventually, you will start to hear the audio cues for Hellborn in Hunt: Showdown. This murmuring sound will come from the direction you need to head in order to find Hellborn.
Keep following the murmuring sounds you can hear after being in dark sight for a prolonged period of time until you come across the moving lair for the Hellborn. Once you have reached the roaming boss it will immediately attack, so be on your guard.
How to beat Hellborn in Hunt: Showdown
If you go in unprepared to fight Hellborn, you’re not going to have a good time. It is able to burn your health down in almost no time and has some pretty lethal projectile attacks. However, with these strategies, you should be able to take it down quickly and efficiently.
Hellborn is a fire enemy and has a number of attacks that can pose a lot of problems. It can charge you down and then explode, akin to an immolator. However, Hellborn can explode as many times as it likes, immediately burning off 50 HP permanently.
Go loud
Killing Hellborn should be done as quickly as possible, and this means going loud. I recommend using dynamite, sticky bombs, and the bomb lance if you have it. Don’t worry about staying silent; as soon as you attack Hellborn in Hunt: Showdown, it will roar and alert the whole map to its presence.
When first triggered, Hellborn will do a roaring animation. This is the best time to use a stick bomb on it.
Hit it hard and fast, giving it as little opportunity to attack as possible. Shotguns and explosives are your friends. There is also no banish time with Hellborn, so as soon as it has been killed, it will banish, replenishing you and your team’s lost health and awarding a burn trait. There will be no period of waiting as it banishes, so working quickly to kill it is in your favor.
Attack Pattern
Hellborn has a few attacks to be aware of. Watch out for these, as they can quickly burn off all your health chunks and hit from range.
- Fireballs — These are much faster than the fireballs you’re used to in video games. Strafing is your only option, and you’ll have to sprint to get out of their way. I recommend finding cover; dodging is not a great strategy.
- Explosion — Get too close, and Hellborn will explode, immediately taking off 50HP. These cannot be returned until you banish. This boss is incredibly fast, so be aware of where it is.
Banishing Hellborn
Unlike every other boss in Hunt: Showdown, this one has zero time to banish. As soon as you kill it, it will banish, restoring your and your team’s health. This makes killing it loud and proud much easier.
Once you have finished Hellborn off in Hunt: Showdown, it will drop Burn Traits, which can only be found in the game.
Mammons Gulch is an all-new map with many new updates. Check out some tips and tricks to get ahead of the game in Hunt: Showdown.
