UK gamers will be able to check out and order an HTC Vive from today (17 March) at select retailers where the VR kit will be available for hands-on demonstrations.

Each shop will have a special demonstration station open to the general public for “individual sessions”. Once the demonstration is complete, the Vive will be available to pre-order direct from the shop.

Anyone in the UK that’s sitting on the fence about the Vive, or VR in general, should try and make it along to one of these shops before parting with any cash. Going hands-on may convince you one way or another. £689 is a lot to shell out for a new piece of tech so better safe than sorry.

The shops taking part in this retail partnership include:

  • Currys PC World, Leeds (Birstall) – WF17 9AE
  • Currys PC World, Reading – RG2 0QG
  • Currys PC World, Tottenham Court Road – W1T 7NE
  • Overclockers UK, Newcastle-under-Lyme – ST5 9BT
  • Scan Computers International Ltd, Bolton – BL6 6PE
