Best strategy to win with Black Deck in Balatro

The Black Deck in Balatro gives you an additional Joker slot but takes one away from your maximum hand size. Instead of five Jokers, you can have up to six, and instead of four hands, you have three.

With Black Deck’s nuance in mind, the key to winning with it is to invest in the best Jokers you can find. Since you have one less hand, you need to rely on your Jokers to add Mult and Chips directly to each hand. The more ways Jokers give you Mult and Chips, the better.

For example, I got lucky with getting Greedy Joker, Even Steven, and Ice Cream. Greedy Joker gave me plus four Mult for every Diamond card scored and Even Steven gave me plus four Mult for every even card scored. Ice Cream, while it did get weaker every round, added 100 Chips for every hand scored while diminishing by five for every hand I played. This allowed me to win most Blinds in one or two hands, and I sold and replaced Ice Cream when it deteriorated.

Don’t forget to sell cheap, early Jokers and replace them with better ones you find. At first, Jokers should be the first things you buy. After you get six, focus on refining your pool of Jokers. Sell the ones that no longer work as well or don’t synergize and pick up any that are better for you.

The hardest part about the Black Deck after surviving each Blind is getting enough cash to acquire good Jokers. Make sure you know how to acquire cash fast in Balatro and you’ll be in good shape to win with the Black Deck.
