How to win the Gulag in Warzone 2 every time

It doesn’t matter how good you are, sooner or later you’ll end up in the Gulag. The Gulag is where all Warzone 2 players end up once they fall in Al Mazrah. It provides a second chance to get back into the action assuming you win your duel. Here’s our guide on how to win the Gulag in Warzone 2 every time.

How to win the Gulag in Warzone 2

Always ping the enemy team

The most common mistake players make in the Gulag is not pinging nearly enough. Pinging in Warzone 2 is the most powerful communication tool available to you and not using is it akin to throwing. If you see an opponent at any point, you should be pinging them to let your teammate know.

Avoid the Jailer

After 20 seconds, the Jailer will enter the Gulag. The Jailer is a juggernaut-type enemy that walks around the Gulag with a minigun. Killing him makes everybody redeploy, but it’s rare that you’ll find a match where everybody coordinates to do this. Most of the time it’s best to avoid the Jailer as his minigun will melt you.

Play with your teammate

With the Gulag being a 2v2 in Warzone 2, you can’t win matches by playing alone. It’s important that you play with your teammate to give yourself an edge over your opponents. Stick together, focus on the same target where possible, and match your teammate’s playstyle. The worst thing you can do is split up and play on your own as this gives the other team the opportunity to 2v1 you.

Practice with pistols and shotguns

As of launch, the Gulag only has pistols and shotguns in it. These weapons aren’t frequently used outside of the Gulag so most players won’t be comfortable using them. Try practicing with these weapons to get more familiar with how they handle. This can be done in either the new DMZ extraction mode or Modern Warfare 2‘s multiplayer modes.

Take high ground

The most important part of the map to control to win the Gulag in Warzone 2 is its high ground. A raised platform can be found on your immediate left or right depending on which side you spawn. This high ground is powerful, as it lets you see across the whole map. Even better, equipment spawns on the high ground, making it great for flushing out opponents who sit at the back of their spawn.
