How to walk faster in sand and snow in Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

Don't travel slowly.

Whenever Link is walking through the sandy dunes in Gerudo, you’ll notice he walks a little slower. He’s also slower when treading through the snow banks in places like Hebra. This can get quite annoying if you enjoy exploring in those regions, but find it difficult at the slow speed. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a way for Link to walk faster than usual in the sand and snow, and we’ll show you how to do that.

Where to get Sand and Snow Boots in Tears of the Kingdom

Just like in Breath of the Wild, how you walk faster in sand and snow in Tears of the Kingdom is by wearing Sand Boots and Snow Boots. Of course, you can chug some Hasty Elixirs, but that can get annoyingly taxing after awhile. Instead, you can buy both these boots in Gerudo Town.

When you first arrive in Gerudo Town, you’ll notice that it’s surrounded by a dust storm. This made the residents hide in the underground shelter, meaning not all the shops you want are available. So, make sure to complete the Regional Phenomena main quest with Riju in Gerudo first.

After that’s done, the sand storm dies off, and Gerudo Town is back in motion. You can now visit shops that weren’t available before. But there’s one more thing you have to do before having access to these Sand and Snow Boots. The secret clothes shop, just like in Breath of the Wild, isn’t open for everyone. In the last game, you had to figure out the passcode to get in. But now in Tears of the Kingdom, a box is blocking the side entrance to the shop.

The shopkeepers are too tired to lift it, meaning you have to find another way in. Luckily, we’ve already covered how to unlock the secret Gerudo Town clothes shop. Once you’ve made your way inside, you’ll notice they’re selling both the Sand and Snow Boots you need! The Sand Boots cost 1,200 Rupees, while the Snow Boots are 1,300. Being able to walk at a normal pace in the sand and snow is very useful, so save up those Rupees!
