Hades 2 brings back several of the Greek Gods from the first game including Hypnos, Sleep Incarnate. Instead of poking fun at you after a failed run, though, he’s taking an extended nap in a quiet corner of the Crossroads in Hades 2.
You can interact with Hypnos just like any of your other Crossroads companions, but he won’t wake up no matter what you do. There’s a way to get him to talk, though, but it’ll cost you some rare items. If you miss Hypnos, here’s how you can chat with an old friend in Hades 2.
Can You Wake Up Hypnos in Hades 2?
At the time of writing, we haven’t figured out how to completely wake up Hypnos in Hades 2. However, we think it has something to do with Nectar, the gifts that you can give to your companions to increase your relationship level with them.
If you give Hypnos Nectar, he’ll actually start to talk to you. While he only mutters a few words, he gives some incredibly cryptic hints like “Have you tried…” and other things that suggest there’s a way to fully rouse him from his slumber. We’ve only been able to give Hypnos a few Nectars in our playthrough so far since the game prevents you from spamming him with them, so we’ll update this guide if we learn more.
You can get Nectar in the same ways as you did in the first Hades. It pops up as a rare reward during runs, you can sometimes purchase it from Charon’s shop, and now it’s even a possible reward from Prophecies, which are new challenges that you can complete for the Fates. You’ll need to work your way through most of Erebus before it starts appearing, though.
Hades 2 is currently available in early access, so there’s no telling if Hypnos is even able to wake up yet at this stage in the game. Still, Hades 2 is a remarkably complete game despite its early access state, so there’s a good chance that Hypnos will play a larger role in the story once the community gets further into the game and unlocks even more areas.
