How to use Zonai Fan Device Machine in Tears of the Kingdom

Fans are used for much more than cooling you off.

The first Zonai Device you interact with in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the Fan Device. The only thing the Fan Device does is push wind in one direction. With it being your first introduction to Zonai Devices, here is how to use the Fan Device in Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom: How to use the Fan Device

The Fan Device in Tears of the Kingdom is quite simple to use: hit it to turn it on and hit it to turn it off. Use Ultrahand to attach the Fan Device to any object and you have propulsion. That is how to use the Fan Device.

While the basics of the Fan Device are simple, the number of applications the Fan Device has are almost endless. You can (and will need to) create fan boats with the Fan Device. You’ll also use the Fan Device to solve puzzles like the one in the Mining Cave.

Once you have used a Device Dispenser and have the ability to deploy Fan Devices, you can use them practically anywhere. To do that, you need to go into your inventory, select the Fan Device, and select “Take out device.” Beware that the Fan Device will emerge right in front of you, so if you are standing by a cliff, the Fan device might roll off and plummet to the Surface (definitely didn’t happen to me…).

The greatest part about Tears of the Kingdom is that you have the tools to do anything you want. Be creative with the Fan Device! Attach it to a log to send yourself hurtling through the air, attach it to a car to get extra fast, attach it to a spear and send it flying toward an enemy. The world is your oyster.
