Fire Emblem Engage Ancient Well

How to use the Ancient Well in Fire Emblem Engage

A drop from the well.

Fire Emblem games are as much about what happens between combat encounters as much as they are about the actual fighting. Fire Emblem Engage is no different in this regard. While The Somniel has a little less to do than the Monastery of Three Houses, it’s still a large area with a ton to keep track of. You can get free materials, shop at four different shops, make food, and even do some gacha pulls for Bond Rings. Another feature in The Somniel is the Ancient Well, a very handy tool to take advantage of in the game. It can be a bit of a confusing matter to unlock and use however, so here’s our guide on how to use the Ancient Well in Fire Emblem Engage.

Fire Emblem Engage – How to unlock and take advantage of the Ancient Well

The first thing you need to do to use the Ancient Well in Fire Emblem Engage is to play until you get to Chapter 7. This is when the Ancient Well becomes unlockable in-game. Once it’s available, you need to speak to the Blacksmith, who says he’s lost some weapons. Funnily enough, these weapons are in the Ancient Well, so head there and retrieve the Represailles and Revanche weapons. Then, head back to the Blacksmith who says these aren’t the weapons he lost, so you can keep them. Handy, considering these weapons are actually pretty good once fully refined.

After this task, the Ancient Well becomes usable. The next question is how the Ancient Well in Fire Emblem Engage works, so let’s go over it. To get items out of the Ancient Well, you have to put items into it. The higher the star “Upgrade Chance” rating, the higher your likelihood of getting better weapons returned.

The star rating depends on the amount of Gold value attached to the items you put into the Ancient Well. A 1-star item is anything you give the Ancient Well below 1,000G, 2-star is 1,000G, 3-star is 5,000G, 4-star is 10,000G, and 5-star is 20,000G and above. Anything between those ranges also works too, so try and find some optimal ways of working this system.

Renewable items that are usually finite

The Ancient Well in Fire Emblem Engage is the only renewable source of SP Books too, meaning you can grind SP by using items in this mechanic. You can also get joke weapons in the Ancient Well, which are exclusively available through this system. There’s also the fact that at higher Upgrade Chance, you can get weapons that are finite in shops, even in endgame. This includes weapons like the Armorslayer, and Brave weapons.
