How to use Forecast Towers in Fortnite

Never die in the storm again!

No matter how good you are at Fortnite, one opponent that is always one step ahead is the Storm. We’ve all been there. You beat the best squad in the lobby only to die out of the zone because you didn’t check your map. If only there were a way to tell where the Storm would head next, right? Well, Chapter 4, Season 4 introduces Forecast Towers that do precisely that. As the adage goes, ‘knowledge is power,’ and this new addition to Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 lets you stay ahead of the competition to the very end. This is how to use Forecast Towers in Fortnite.

Before you can use a Forecast Tower, you need to find one first. Fortunately, they are always in the same places. There are six in total, and their locations are circled on the map below.

When you’re close to a tower, you’ll always find a group of AI enemies nearby. If you interact with the Tower, they’ll usually attack you on sight. Even if you’re solo, these enemies shouldn’t be too hard to kill. They make a lot of noise, but ultimately, they have terrible aim, so you should easily win. The boss in the enemy group will drop a Forecast Card, which you can use on the Tower. As a bonus, they can also drop decent guns. I’ve seen plenty of Legendary Twin Mag Assault Rifles drop from these guards, so they are well worth defeating, even if you don’t need the intel.

I wasn’t kidding about the noise. The sound of a gunfight will alert nearby players, so be ready to defend yourself. If you don’t have decent weapons, be ready to leave the area quickly.

Once you have the Forecast Card in your inventory, you can interact with the base of the Tower, and your map will be updated with the next Storm locations. Needless to say, this information can be massively helpful. If the safe zone ends up in an area with a ton of elevation, you can score easy wins if you get there first. Treetops in the Jungle or Mountains in the snow biome are power positions, and even skilled players will struggle to push you in those areas.

Why isn’t the Forecast Tower working?

Each Forecast Tower can only be activated once per game. You can tell if the Tower has already been used as the screen at the base will be blank and the lights will be off. If you’re by a Tower and nothing is happening, another player has likely used it before you. As more players realize how valuable the intel is from these new locations, expect them to be more contested. These Towers are usually in the open, so it’s good to have a movement tool like the Rocket Ram or Shockwave Grenade ready if you need a quick getaway.
