I have been waiting a long time for Fireteam Finder in Destiny 2 — the supposed answer to making finding groups to play with in-game much easier. Here’s everything we know about Fireteam Finder in Destiny 2, including how to use it.
What is Fireteam Finder in Destiny 2?
Since the dawn of Destiny 1, players have had to have friends or use the LFG (looking for group) system found on the Bungie website. Since both of these methods aren’t easy (especially having friends, RIP), the majority of players have missed out on Destiny’s best content, Dungeons and Raids, which require multiple party members to play but there isn’t matchmaking for them.
Finally, near the end of Destiny 2, we’re getting Fireteam Finder, an in-game system that allows us to look for or join a specific group of players looking to do a specific thing like Dungeons, Raids, Trials of Osiris, and more.

Destiny 2: Fireteam Finder release date, explained
Destiny 2 will start beta testing Fireteam Finder on Thursday, November 30, from 9 am to 5 pm PT. This will be a major stress test for Fireteam Finder and will only feature Raids. Hopefully, you don’t need me to remind you, but just in case, prepare for the Fireteam Finder to not work very well if at all on November 30.
After the November 30 stress test, Bungie will tweak Fireteam Finder and prepare it for its full launch. We don’t have an official date for the full release of Fireteam Finder, but Bungie has confirmed that it should come out sometime in late January. Looks like we’ll need to be even more patient for just a little while longer.
In the meantime, keep an eye out for the Thursday TWIDs because it’s there that we’ll get news on where Fireteam Finder is at. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bungie drop a firm release date for Fireteam Finder in a mid-January TWID.
