Have you ever played a narratively complicated video game that you can’t keep up with? Well, Final Fantasy 16 has a solution for that. There’s a way during cutscenes in Square Enix’s latest Final Fantasy title to read up on what’s going on. Whether it’s character or location information, you can utilize Active Time Lore in Final Fantasy 16, which we’ll explain how to use.
How does Active Time Lore work in Final Fantasy 16?
There is plenty of deep lore that you may not understand during Final Fantasy 16‘s story. This is why you should use Active Time Lore more often. All you have to do is hold down the Touchpad button on your PlayStation 5 controller. Any information that’s related to what’s going on in the scene is displayed here. It will pause the cutscene, letting you read up on where you are, who the characters are, and useful terminology.
Have you ever paused a movie or show while on Amazon Prime Video? They have an X-Ray feature that tells you which actors are on screen, which may have inspired Square Enix to create this feature. You’ll notice multiple bubbles pop up on the screen. If you press one, it’ll display a paragraph detailing useful information about whatever you’re interested in.
For example, in this image, you can see more information on the location called Eastpool. In this same scene, I could also find information on new characters, and some terminology like what a ‘Brand’ is.
You can actually revisit any information you collect at The Hideaway. This is the home base that Cid took Clive into. Speak to Harpocrates in the Fat Chocobo to see The Thousand Tomes. Here, you can read all your compiled knowledge, in case you forgot some things about the lore. Keep visiting Harpocrates to raise your knowledge level.
Final Fantasy 16Â is available as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
