The Stealth armor set in Tears of the Kingdom is good for sneaking past enemies. However, its armor rating is suitably lower than most other sets in the game. This means that if you’re caught in combat while wearing the armor, Link won’t be able to take many hits. Luckily, you can upgrade the Stealth armor to bolster its defenses, so let’s see how it’s done.
Tears of the Kingdom: How to upgrade the Stealth armor
Before you get set on upgrading the Stealth armor there are two things to do. The first is to make sure you’ve got every piece of the set. It’s found in Kakriko Village at the armor store there but its price will be extortionate. But, if you complete the Gloom-Borne Illness side quest, you can buy the Stealth set for much cheaper. After that’s all done, you’ll need to unlock the Great Fairy Fountains. This is a longer process, but necessary if you want to upgrade the Stealth armor to its highest level. Once both of the tasks are complete, we’re ready to harvest some materials and get upgrading.
Let’s break down how many materials you’ll need for each upgrade level of the Stealth armor. Each piece requires the same amount of materials, so that makes the math a little simpler.
Stealth armor first upgrade:
- x3 Blue Nightshade
Stealth armor second upgrade:
- x5 Blue Nightshade
- x5 Sunset Firefly
Stealth armor third upgrade:
- x8 Silent Shroom
- x5 Sneaky River Snail
Stealth armor fourth upgrade:
- x10 Stealthfin Trout
- x5 Silent Princess
Total Materials needed:
- x24 Blue Nightshade
- x15 Sunset Firefly
- x24 Silent Shroom
- x15 Sneaky River Snail
- x30 Stealthfin Trout
- x15 Silent Princess
You’ll need to collect a lot of materials to fully upgrade the Stealth armor set in Tears of the Kingdom. But once it’s all done, the set will go from a measly six armor rating to 27. This still puts it at the lower end of defense, but its main job isn’t to protect Link in the first place. If you want to bring a little more style to the suit, you can always go and get Sheik’s Mask to bring some of that Ocarina of Time flair as well.
