Destiny 2: How to upgrade Exotic Armor to Artifice

A whole new set of content and mechanics like the Prismatic class or a whole new set of enemies with the Dread might catch your attention during The Final Shape, but one change that may fly under the radar for many Guardians is a major buff to Exotic Armor functionality: all Exotic Armor can now become Artifice. How will you do that? It’s simple, all you have to do is to masterwork your Exotic Armor piece – that is by leveling it up to level 10 – and then upgrade it once more by spending 10,000 Glimmer and one Exotic Cipher.

Once you do so, you will unlock an Artifice Mod socket for your Exotic Armor, where you can choose one of your Exotic Armor stats you wish to further increase by three points: Discipline, Intellect, Mobility, Recovery, Resilience, or Strength. This will help you further strengthen your Guardian build and class in a very fast and simple way since you were only able to get Artifice Armor before by completing dungeons in Master difficulty – which for me is a big task to undertake.

The only thing that might set you back a bit is getting that Exotic Cipher. Remember that this item can be obtained by collecting it through the Season Pass, but if you haven’t purchased it, then you can complete the Xenology quest from Xur. This can only be completed once a week and will have you play any of Destiny 2’s ritual activities, so keep an eye on Xur’s location and get your Exotic Armor up to Artifice as soon as you can!
