While those Victorian-style houses look wonderful, maybe it is time for a little change, especially because there isn’t a decent sewage system in sight. Thankfully, the time for a well-deserved change is upon us, so set apart some of your yearly budget, here is how to upgrade buildings in Cities: Skylines II.

To upgrade buildings in Cities: Skylines II, you will have to select the building you desire to upgrade. All the upgrade options will appear on the lower part of the screen. Select the upgrade you wish to purchase, and then move your cursor towards the building you are upgrading. There are many types of upgrades available for you that will either require a large sum of money to invest or you unlock them through the Progression tab.

It is important that you continuously upgrade your buildings. This will impact positively on your citizen’s well-being and overall happiness. For example, if you upgrade your water stations, then you will either get more water per station. You can even get a sanitary upgrade, making all the water you pump less prone to be contaminated. You can also upgrade schools to support more students, allowing education to be more accessible and citizens to be happier. Upgrade your fire station to support more firefighters and your police station to have more protection against crime.

Basically, upgrade everything there is to upgrade as long as it doesn’t cost you an eye or a leg. For the most part, these upgrades are worth enough to justify expending a decent amount of money on them. The last thing you want is a city with no power due to power insufficiency or countless people getting sick due to a lack of hospital space.
