When you first come across some Founts of Light and Darkness to untangle in Destiny 2: The Final Shape, it can be a little confusing. Thankfully, I am here to do the untangling for you. It is a similar process to the Conduits earlier in the game.
The correct order for the Founts of Light and Darkness
When you reach this stage in the Destiny 2: The Final Shape campaign, there is a particular order in which you must untangle or activate Founts to access the next area. The way you can identify this is by the beams of light shining from the plates themselves. The first will have one beam, the second, two, and so on.
To activate these plates, you must first grab the corresponding Motes until you have the maximum. This can be achieved by killing one of the Guardians of Light and Dark which are Hive Knights. Pick up their three Motes to get a Mote of Light or Mote of Darkness.
How to get Motes of Light and Motes of Darkness in Destiny 2
To pick up light motes you must kill a Hive Knight of Light and Dark using the shield. This will drop three light motes which you can collect to untangle a light Fount in Destiny 2. You do this by jumping onto the light plate. To pick up dark motes, simply kill the same enemy with any of your weapons. This will drop three motes which is enough to untangle a dark Fount in Destiny 2 The Final Shape.
Then, activate the Founts in this order:
- In the center of the right corridor (Light)
- At the entrance to the two corridors (Dark)
- At the start of the left corridor (Light)
- In the middle of the left corridor (Dark)
Carrying either the light or dark motes to these plates will activate them. If you get the order wrong you will have to start all over again. The directions are based on where you enter this room from.
Where to collect the motes in Destiny 2
The motes used to untangle the Founts in Destiny 2 can be collected from the Guardians of Light and Dark. One can be found in the middle of the right corridor, just opposite the first Fount. The second can be found right at the end of the corridors. They will regularly respawn once killed but don’t pose much of a threat.
This Fount Light and Dark mechanic will appear again, so make sure you know what you’re doing. You’re now ready to push on and start unlocking those class aspects.
