Outcast A New Beginning is set in the gorgeous world of Adelpha. The trailers show off Cutter Slade zooming around in his glide jetpack, a tool that makes traversing the verdant valleys so much easier. Here’s how to get it as soon as possible.
How to fly in Outcast A New Beginning
Thankfully, you’ll be able to unlock Glide in Outcast A New Beginning fairly quickly if you focus on it. The Glide feature is an upgrade to your Jetpack, which means you can find it in the Upgrade Tree.
Through playing the game normally, you’ll unlock both the Jetpack and Energy Saver, as you’ll be forced into unlocking them. The Glide feature is the fourth upgrade down, so you’ll need to be focused when spending your Blue Helidium.
Blue Helidium is the resource needed to purchase your upgrades and has zero other functionality. So don’t worry about saving it. The Glide costs 100 Blue Helidium, but you’ll need to purchase the Jetsprint Upgrade first, which costs 50 Blue Helidium.
From your early, humble beginnings, you’ll need to save up 150 Blue Helidium, which isn’t the easiest task. There are a couple of ways to go about obtaining all the Blue Helidium you need. When you buy it, you’ll be able to glide from any height and surface and soar through Aldelpha.
When you get the Glide upgrade, upon using it, you may experience performance issues, due to the speed at which you’re traveling, so be careful.
Farming Blue Helidium in Outcast A New Beginning
I managed to get the Glide Upgrade in Outcast A New Beginning without putting too much thought into it. I kept progressing the main story and seemed to be rewarded with plenty of the stuff to buy the upgrade. However, if you didn’t bee-line for the Glide, and bought some adjacent upgrades, you may be hurting for Blue Helidium.
The most straightforward way to gain Blue Helidium is by completing the Orym Trails that are dotted all over Aldelpha. Orym Trails are parkour courses, where you’ve got to traverse a course and run into orbs of light along the way. They all only seem to reward 15 Blue Helidium, so you’ll have to hit quite a few to get the Glide Upgrade.
Orym Trails can be frustrating, so if you don’t want to go through that stress, then it may be worth it to simply complete quests around Adelpha. Following quests of your choice to completion will reward you with much more Blue Helidium than the Orym Trails, although it will take a little longer to get what you need.
With a good strategy to get Blue Helidium in Outcast A New Beginning, you’re on your way to getting the Glide Upgrade. Now you can drop in on your foes and blast them away.
