How to unlock Hailey in The First Descendant

It's time to play Sniper.

Hailey Scott debuts with The First Descendant Season 1 and has all the makings of a solid boss killer. In short, you want her. Here’s how to unlock Hailey in The First Descendant.

How to get Hailey Materials in The First Descendant

Before grinding for Hailey, you must speak to Nell at Albion and complete the Fallen Teammates Questline. The task is pretty straightforward. Head to the Special Operation Terminal and choose White-night Gulch – Block Kuiper Mining. There are a few story sections that follow, which I won’t spoil, but you must complete these before going for the new Descendant.

Hailey parts are obtained slightly differently from the other Descendants we’ve seen so far. You still need the regular four pieces (Enhanced Cells, Spiral Catalyst, Stabilizer, and Code), but they are tied to Season 1 content.

Once you have each piece, they must be constructed with Anais in Albion. When all the pieces are ready, you can finally build Hailey.

There are two places you can acquire Hailey materials, so let me show you how they work:

Clear Invasion Dungeons

Invasion Dungeons are guaranteed to drop at least one of Hailey’s Research Materials per completion.

The drops are also performance-based and reward speedy clears. According to the patch notes, earning three Research Materials in a single run is possible if you’re fast enough.

The catch is these Invasion Dungeons can only be run twice daily, which means farming for Hailey’s materials this way will take multiple days.

You can start Invasion Dungeons at the Infiltration Terminal (pictured above), and they must be tackled solo.

Defeat monsters in Hard Infiltration Operations

Hard Infiltrations are another avenue for acquiring parts.

Hailey’s materials are tied to specific Hard Infiltrations, and you can acquire each piece from the following locations. Keep in mind you must beat the regular Campaign to unlock Hard mode for a shot at the parts:

Enhanced Cells

  • Kingston (Hard) Slumber Valley
  • Kingston (Hard) Magister Lab.

Stabilizer

  • Vespers (Hard) The Shelter
  • Echo Swamp (Hard) The Chapel

Spiral Catalyst

  • Agna Desert (Hard) The Asylum
  • Agna Desert (Hard), Caligo Ossuary

Data Chip

  • Hagios (Hard) The Haven
  • White-night Gulch (Hard) Mystery’s End.

Can I get Hailey without grinding in The First Descendant?

If you want to skip the grind and the waiting period to build Hailey, you can simply buy her outright from the shop.

As Hailey is a new Descendant, she’s more expensive than the other characters. Nexon used the same pricing structure for Luna, and she costs 900 Caliber.

Purchasing Hailey from the shop is the only way to bypass the campaign’s clear requirement if you’re a new player and want to play as the ice-cool sniper.

If you’re grinding for new Descendants, have you got any Ultimates yet? Ultimate Descendants are locked behind an intimidating grind but are well worth the struggle if you can handle it.
