Essentially, there are two major steps you must take to unlock Bat Robbert. The first step is to gain access to the Pako Battiliar weapon by killing a bunch of bats. To be precise, you must defeat 161,616 bats to unlock the Pako Battiliar. You can accomplish this by farming bats in any stage that works for you.

Once you unlock the Pako Battiliar, your next step is to evolve it. This requires some finesse. You must max level Hollow Heart to evolve the Pako Battiliar.

Bat Robbert is best described as “slightly tanky.” When his health falls below 20%, his maximum HP grows by 16, up to a total limit of 400 HP. He also recovers 30% of his health, which should be long enough to get him out of his current scrape. Once that ability automatically kicks in, you get another use in that run by fully healing your character. That trait should allow you to make some pretty deep runs, once you’re good at playing as the character.

To get started, go after bats. You don’t have to kill them all in a single run, which is good news for the humans among us. Take as long as you need and focus on bats. Slay other foes only as necessary to stay alive long enough to defeat more bats on each run.
