How to unlock and use Artifact of Delusion in Risk of Rain 2

Memory, all alone in the moonlight.

If there is a memory game to be played, then don’t count me in. I’m terrible at those. Here is how to unlock the Artifact of Delusion in Risk of Rain 2.

The Artifact of Delusion is a bit trickier to unlock thanks to how cryptic the code was found by all of Risk of Rain 2 players. You see, while other Artifact codes are found in-game in some precluded or secret area, the Artifact of Delusion code is not even in the game. The code is imprinted in one of the cards in the Devotion Update trailer, and they are super pixelated. Well, that was no issue for the community that found the Artifact of Delusion code after some hours of theory-crafting and heavy sweating:

  • Square, Circle, Square
  • Circle, Circle, Circle
  • Square, Triangle, Square

Nice move, Hopoo Games, nice move. I spent a lot of time in Verdant Falls trying to find the code; who will give me those hours back?

Anyway, head to the Shadow Meadows — the fifth stage in a normal Risk of Rain 2 run — and locate the Compound Generator at the bottom of the map. Input the code shown above and you will open a portal to Bulwark’s Ambry. Defeat the Artifact Reliquary and, after traveling back to the first stage, you will unlock the Artifact of Delusion.

How to use the Artifact of Delusion in Risk of Rain 2

The Artifact of Delusion opens up a very fun memory game that will take place in every single stage. After completing the Teleport event, each of the chests you opened will reset, meaning that you will get to open them again and receive more items. However, for this to work, you will need to remember correctly which item dropped from said chest.

Three options will be given at the time — the one item dropped before and two from your inventory — and if you select the correct item, you will be rewarded with it. If you don’t, then you will lose the item you picked.

Sounds like a fun game, right? Although, I would say that the Artifact of Devotion is way more entertaining — and broken — than the Artifact of Delusion. Let’s just say I have a weakness for an unbeatable army of companions. But anyway, you can activate both at the same time, so do that if you want to experience what the Devotion Update has in store for you.
