Whenever you think about Mortal Kombat, the first thing that comes to mind is the Fatalities. Masterfully choreographed, representative of what the character’s skills are, and, well, violent. Brutalities on the other hand, while not as choreographed as the Fatalities, offer what some of the Fatalities may lack in their display of murder: straight-up savage force. Each and every character will be able to perform these Brutalities, but you as a player may have to invest some time to unveil each of them. Here is how to unlock and perform Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1.
How to unlock new Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1
Every single character in Mortal Kombat 1 share the same basic brutality named “The Klassic”. This is the infamous combo of Down + Back Punch while holding the Punch button. While uppercutting your enemies’ heads from their bodies surely sounds like a great idea, especially if you are one to spam the crouching uppercut move, there are many brutalities that you can unlock for each specific character. All you have to do is to continue leveling them up. Unlike Fatalities, Brutalities cannot be performed before you unlock them. Do that by playing all the game modes, except for the Kampaign, with the character. At specific levels, you will unlock character-specific Brutalities that will show your characters’ deadly moves a bit better.

How to perform Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1
To perform Brutalities, you will have to perform their specific combination as the last move to finish off your enemy. They cannot be performed during the “Finish him/her” screen since they only work mid-battle. During your Brutality attempt, be sure to keep holding the selected attack button of the combo in order for you to land it perfectly. You will know you did it if your character performs a devastating move on your opponent which ends up with a brutal finisher. Hopefully, you will get to experience the “brutality” of your Brutalities in the game without breaking a sweat.
