How to unlock all Descendants in The First Descendant

There are quite a few steps that go into unlocking the Descendants in The First Descendant. You’ll need plenty of Gold and some other materials to unlock all 19 available Descendants.

Each of the Descendants can be unlocked in the same general process, so I’ll first be taking you through this unlock process. Next, I’ll be detailing the requirements for each individual Descendant in The First Descendant.

How do you unlock a Descendant in The First Descendant?

Learning how to unlock any of the Descendants in The First Descendant is key. The process will make more sense to you and you’ll be able to identify the precise steps for each individual Descendant on your own.

Firstly, you will be unlocking the Descendants from the Research Institute on Albions, accessed by interacting with Anais, the Magister, on the left side of the map. You’ll be able to research all manner of things at the Research Institute, but for our purposes, you’ll need to head over to the “Descendants” tab on the left.

There are 19 Descendants in total currently, including the one you picked at the start of the game and the Ultimate versions of existing Descendants.

Select a Descendant to view the following details:

• The time it’ll take to research the Descendant
• The Gold you’ll need to pay for the Descendant
• The Research Materials needed

The complicated part of this process is due to the Research Materials. Every Descendant will need their Enhanced Cells, Stabilizer, Spiral Catalyst, and their Code. If you hover your cursor over these items and press “F,” you’ll be able to see how you can acquire each resource.

Some need only to be found, and others need to be researched.

This means that you’ll either be shown the mission when inspecting an item, or you’ll be shown what other materials are needed. In turn, you can press “F” to inspect those materials to be shown how to get them too.

So if you’ve got a Descendant you want to unlock, make sure to inspect all the items and find out how to get everything you need to plot a course. Note that you may need to play through a lot more of the game before you can unlock the right missions.
