How to turn on fall damage in Spiderman 2

Splat!

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the only Spider-Man games to include fall damage. Don’t worry, by default, fall damage is turned off. If you want to add some challenge, here is how to enable fall damage in Spiderman 2.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Turning on fall damage

To turn on fall damage in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, open settings. Select gameplay and scroll down to the Swing Assists section. The last option here is fall damage. Turn it off and on at your whim.

Personally, I’ve found that fall damage doesn’t really add or take away too much to the overall experience because healing isn’t too hard in this game, but it is a nice touch of realism that adds an extra layer of fun.

I’ve tested the fall damage in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and it’s pretty solid. If you dive from a skyscraper, you’ll die. If you skim the ground while gliding with web wings, you’ll take less damage. You can also press X right when you land to try and save some health with a recovery jump, but that won’t work at extreme heights.

I played the entirety of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 with fall damage on just to add a little bit of extra spice. However, it’s not hard to not take fall damage. The web wings and web-swinging abilities are generous and will almost always save you… unless you opt out of swing assist.

How to turn off swing steering assistance in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

You can add an even bigger difficulty curve if you turn the swing steering assistance down to zero. The game’s default is 10, which feels amazing and very generous.

If you want more accurate web-swinging, turning off the swing steering assistance in the settings next to the fall damage setting will give you that experience. However, I find it more annoying than it is hard, but you can be the judge.
