The Halloween event for Call of Duty gives Al Mazrah and other maps a spooky makeover. Not only that, players are also treated to a couple of weeks of themed content that makes the game feel fresh. There’s a to enjoy in the Haunting event, but one part players may not appreciate is the ‘Jump Scares.’ As a self-proclaimed horror fanatic, these scares even grate on me, so I’m not surprised some players want them removed. Fortunately, there’s a way to do that. Here’s how to turn off jump scares in Call of Duty: The Haunting (COD).

How to turn off jump scares in The Haunting event
When you boot the game up for the first time during the Haunting event, you can choose to turn the scares off so you never have to see them.
If you leave them on but decide you want to switch them off later, you can do so from the Battle Pass Screen. Scroll over to the Battle Pass on the main menu and press the button next to the Jump Scare toggle (highlighted in the picture above).
That’s all there is to it; you can toggle the Scares on or off at your leisure. If you’re wearing a headset and trying to hear footsteps, you may benefit from turning them off.
What are Jump Scares in the Haunting event?
If you’ve turned the Jump Scares off already and are wondering if you’re missing out, trust me, you aren’t. Whenever you open a crate or chest, there’s a chance for a Jump Scare to occur. The Scare is simply a flashy image that appears in the middle of your screen, accompanied by a loud noise.
The sound is so loud it can drown out gunshots. It’s not the sound or the image that will make you jump; it’s the volume. Jump Scares are a fun idea, but they are so common you’ll quickly become numb to them.
Do I miss out on rewards if I turn the Jump Scares off?
Jump Scares are entirely optional, and you lose nothing by turning them off. In fact, having a picture assault your screen when you’re furiously looting at the start of a match can cost you a gunfight so don’t feel bad about turning them off.
