How to turn off Chromatic Aberration in Assassin’s Creed Mirage

THAT'S why my screen shots look blurry.

Since the days of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the Assassin’s Creed games have looked great. How they play is a different story. For Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, we can see that it’s only getting to look better with each release. However, for one reason or another, games are starting to use chromatic aberration. This effect is a color distortion that causes a red and blue effect around objects. It makes motion in the game smooth and looks better. But if you’re planning on taking screenshots, they will come out as blurry. Assassin’s Creed: Mirage does have chromatic aberration featured, but can you turn it off? Find out below if the option is available.

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage – How to turn off chromatic aberration

This issue has been plaguing the game’s subreddit, as players can’t find any solution. In other words, there seems to be no option available at the time of writing this guide. Having no option may deter people from playing in the game. If you have a weaker rig, you might not have the best experience. This may be the fault of chromatic aberration which can be a heavy task that in turn, can make the game not run smoothly. Being able to turn it off and on can drastically improve things like the FPS or load times in the game.

I’ve found if you’re using the Assassin’s Creed 1 filter in the game, this does slightly improve the effect. It’s still present when the filter is on but not as prevalent. So give it a try to see if your experience gets any better.

While the chromatic aberration may cause issues, check out my review of Assassin’s Creed: Mirage. The rest of the game may make up for it.

Will the option to turn it off appear in the future?

As of now, there’s no telling if Ubisoft will put this option in the game. However, if you scroll through the subreddit, there may be a patch featuring it down the line. As of now, to combat this issue, try turning off the motion blur and HDR. Those seem to make things better on top of playing with the Assassin’s Creed 1 filter. Many games give you the option to turn it off and on, so it’s puzzling that Ubisoft omits it.
