How to slide across a vehicle in Fortnite

Trickier than it sounds.

Fortnite Weekly Challenges are the best way to earn XP. You’ll complete many of them by accident, but some require a little more thought. If the Fortnite Week 7 challenges stump you, let me show you how to slide across a vehicle.

How to complete the Slide Across a Vehicle challenge in Fortnite

The challenge is a little ambiguous, but there’s no need to overthink it. All you have to do is stand on the roof of any vehicle, run, and then slide. You must input slide (crouch while running) while you’re still on top of the car.

I found this challenge easiest on an SUV and landed at the Gas Station near Restored Reels. I stood right at the edge of the car roof, faced the back, sprinted for a split second, and pressed crouch. Once I slid off the edge, the challenge unlocked.

I can’t slide fast enough, any tips?

If you’re struggling, you’re likely sliding when your feet have already left the vehicle. If you’re playing on a controller, clicking the stick in to run and quickly pressing crouch is a little awkward.

You can set Fortnite to auto-sprint in the controller options menu (pictured above). The setting is helpful for the challenge, but I strongly recommend turning it off when you’re finished. In Fortnite, you stomp around like an elephant when you’re running. Players can hear your running footsteps from a mile away, and you’re fodder for anyone wearing a headset.

It’s even worse if your opponents have Visual Footsteps turned on, as they’ll be ready when you get close. If you want to take your gameplay to the next level, it’s worth weaving slides into your movement whenever possible. Ultimately, you’re harder to hit if you’re on your knees, and you will catch players off guard if you do it in close quarters.

Speaking of close quarters, the Nitro Fists are arguably the best weapon for point-blank range and give you great mobility options if you get stuck.
