Modern Warfare 3 – how to set trackers in the Precious Cargo campaign stage

The Precious Cargo stage is one of the first ones in the Modern Warfare 3 campaign to let you get a feel for just how open some of the levels can be. You’ll complete a variety of objectives while working through the stage, which takes place along the edge of a port.

The final objective requires you to place two GPS trackers on storage containers. To set the trackers, you have to get close to a particular side of two specific containers in the area full of containers.

If you check the mini-map for the Precious Cargo stage, you will see mission markers. They look like upside-down teardrops with holes at the top. They’re reasonably easy to spot on the map, but they only tell part of the story. You can go to the exact place they indicate but still miss finding where to plant the trackers. You have to cuddle with the containers before the on-screen prompt appears, even when you’re in the desired location. You also need to be at the right point vertically.

The first of the two containers is near the ship along one edge of the map. There is an area with a lot of guards. If they spot you, which is likely because of how exposed you are, they will swarm you like flies.

As you fend them off, look for a rope dangling from one of the towering rigs. If you get near, Farah comments that it is an ascender cable (see the above screenshot). Climb to the top and you can easily approach the obvious container and plant the GPS tracker.

The second container is at the top of a pile of containers. I passed this one many times because I didn’t get close enough to its doors for the prompt to appear in-game. You can climb some pallets near the base of the stack of containers, and keep climbing from there.

At the top, there is a stash of ammo and armor refills (see the above screenshot). Get cozy with the narrow side of the blue container right by the ammo and you’ll produce the prompt that lets you plant the GPS tracker.

You can place trackers on the above containers in whatever order you like, due to the level’s open nature. To satisfy the objective, you must place both of them without dying. Otherwise, you’ll just return to the previous checkpoint.
