How to Save Barry in Cyberpunk 2077

Check in on your next-door neighbor!

There are lots of different jobs, quests and side missions to complete in Cyberpunk 2077, and they vary wildly when it comes to difficulty. Some are hard because of the tasks that you need to perform, while others are just straight-up frustrating to attempt. Lots of these jobs have sneaky objectives that are required for a successful completion, and the “Happy Together” quest is no different. You will be given this quest by NCPD Officers Mendez and Petrova, who would like you to speak with their friend Barry, your next-door neighbor. Barry lost his friend Andrew, and the officers are concerned for his well-being. While this job may seem a little mundane at first, it is deeply emotional and can even be disturbing to players who are more emotionally sensitive. Continue reading to learn how you can achieve a happy ending for Barry and save his life.

Pay Barry a Visit

Your first objective in this mission is to visit Barry after being assigned the “Happy Together” quest by Mendez and Petrova. Knock on his door and wait for an answer, which will not come. Now, this is where some players get impatient or make a mistake and walk away. You need to stay outside the door for three whole hours – Barry doesn’t want to open the door for V, and he is extremely stubborn. You can skip ahead by entering your menu and moving the time forward by three hours. Knock again, and Barry will finally answer and let you inside his home. Be sure to ask about how Andrew died, and talk about how the man was a grandfather figure for your character.

Visit Andrew’s Niche

Barry will eventually talk to you about how he has created a memorial for Andrew, which he calls a “niche”. You’ll notice an optional objective display itself for you, however if your goal is to actually save Barry’s life then this is definitely not a choice. Visit the niche near North Oak Columbarium once you have time, but don’t wait around for long or it may too late to save Barry. Head back to Officer Mendez and Officer Petrova and fill them in on the situation, Andrew’s niche and everything else that you’ve learned. They will want to visit Barry themselves and will ask you to come with them. This is a critical part of the quest, and you need to follow them to Barry’s place to progress in it.

Reunite the Old Friends

The last thing you must do in order to finish this job is visit Barry with Mendez and Petrova. Mendez will talk to Barry – through his door – about the officer’s own experiences, and Barry will ultimately choose to open the door and let his friends come in to talk. You’ll have finished the job at this point, and the officers won’t need or want you to join in on the conversation after Barry has let them inside his home. However, that doesn’t mean your work will go unappreciated. Just remember that you saved a life today, and helped old friends mend their emotional wounds and reconnect.
