How to restore River Valley in Terra Nil

The hills are alive with the sound of terraforming.

River Valley is one of the first biomes you will be required to terraform in the newest game from Devolver. Terra Nil requires a number of hoops to jump through per level to achieve completion. On River Valley the objectives are all very much tutorial based, helping you learn the basics of rejuvenation. It is easy enough to restore River Valley in Terra Nil once you understand the basics.

Check your guidebook

The easiest way to know how to restore River Valley in Terra Nil is by checking both the guidebook and the dropdown menu on the right. The guidebook can be found by selecting the book symbol on the top left of the screen. This will bring up a list of instructions detailing what is needed to reach the next step to restore River Valley.

The drop-down menu underneath the menu on the right will let you know what specifications need to be met for flora and fauna to thrive. These will be detailed as temperature, humidity, and toxicity. Getting to the right levels will encourage beautiful growth.

If this is your first time on River Valley, the game will prompt you through the different needs the land has. If you are returning you should know a thing or two about how to get things moving. River Valley is very receptive to restoration and is easily prompted to grow.

Power and water

First, start with some wind farms, and place them around the map using even spacing. Use these to build waterways around the map. These will supply the banks with grass and provide transport later on.

Detoxify

Use the Toxic Scrubbers to ready the land for irrigation. This is a little game of Tetris as you try to link each shape up for maximum coverage. Every map is different in Terra Nil. Try to keep your machinery by the river, it’ll help later.

Use the different tools available to produce the different biomes. Burn and regrow, create wetlands, and build forests in separate areas of the map. Do this until the bars in the top left of the screen are full. Next, keep wetlands as close to the central waterway as possible. It is worth noting that, forests are best in plains, and fynbos should be placed in low open areas.

Discover the fauna of River Valley

Once you have your biome restored, it’s time to find your animals before packing up to leave River Valley in Terra Nil. Next, you must build a research center. This will allow you to start checking each animal’s requirements and looking for a place they may stay. River Valley keeps it simple, but if you’re struggling to find one, such as the ducks, you can always terraform the land to suit.

Pack up and leave the restored River Valley

Using recyclers and the river system you so cleverly prepared earlier, you won’t struggle to use the floating drone to collect up all the buildings you placed around the map. They will be quickly harvested and you’ll be ready to move on to the next area to restore after River Valley in Terra Nil. Finally, if some of your buildings are a little too far into the land, use the excavator to cut a river to the center of the power cluster.
