How to respec in Last Epoch: Passives, Skills, and Specializations

Wanna run it back?

Last Epoch allows you to respec your Passives, Skills, and Specializations, but it comes with a cost. Here, you’ll learn how to respec in Last Epoch and if you want to.

You earn one Passive point with each level up. If you regret where you’ve spent your Passive point, don’t worry because you can respec.

To respec your Passives, you need to visit a Chronomancer in any town. Every town has a character that can respec your Passive — just look for the character marked with the brain icon. Talk to them to begin respeccing your Passives.

Taking a Passive point back costs 100 gold. You should have enough gold to do this if you sell your gear often, but 100 gold isn’t cheap. Respeccing your Passives isn’t something you want to do often, which is unfortunate because that means you won’t be able to experiment with builds as much as you can in other dungeon crawler games.

You can respec your Specializations and your points spent in Specialized Skills trees. This process is easier than Passives but has an arguably higher cost.

Respeccing Specializations in Last Epoch

To respec your Specializations in Last Epoch, all you need to do is select the Skill you want to Despecialize and press the Respec button in the top right corner of the Skills page. Before you do this, know that respeccing your Specialization will remove all your Skill points.

Respeccing Skill points in Last Epoch

If you want to keep a Skill Specialized and only want to respec the points used in that Skill’s tree, you can do that too with the same method of selecting the Respec button.

The cost of doing this is losing one Skill point if you’re above the minimum skill level. The minimum skill level is found on the top left directly under your Skill’s level. For example, my Shift Skill is level six, but the minimum specialized level is three. If I respec, I’ll drop to five Skill points instead of having six. Like with Passives, beware of the cost of respeccing when it comes to Skill points.

Last but not least, can you respec your Mastery Class in Last Epoch? Sadly, no, you can’t.

While I’m not a fan of how restrictive respeccing is in general in Last Epoch, it’s a huge bummer that you’re locked into a Mastery Class with no option to change it or load a previous manual save (because you can’t manually save in Last Epoch). At least we get to assign Skills to our hotbar, as if that was a tender mercy.
