How to respec in Enotria The Last Song: Who to give the Severed Braid of a Maiden to

It's possible to completely miss this game mechanic.

Usually in Soulslike games, the ability to respec your character’s stats is in plain sight or becomes available naturally to the player. Enotria: The Last Song is different and unlocking the option to respec is completely missable. Read further to learn how to respec in Enotria: The Last Song.

How to respec in Enotria: The Last Song

To unlock the option to respec in Enotria: The Last Song, players must first receive the Severed Braid of a Maiden item and defeat Veltha, God of Strife, who is an optional boss in Falesia Magna. The Severed Braid is the item you actually need to respec, while Veltha is an NPC who does the respeccing for you. We’ll walk you through each step below.

Finding Veltha, God of Strife and unlocking respec

Before you unlock the ability to respec, you must first defeat Veltha, God of Strife in Falesia Magna. She is located in the room next to the Thermae Caves – Upper Layer fast travel checkpoint, through a red combat reality rift. You can find this checkpoint on the main path after defeating the Simulacra of Veltha main boss.

Interact with the red rift to start the fight with Veltha, God of Strife, and defeat her in combat. After beating Veltha, she will move to the bottom floor (filled with sand) in the Theater of the Masks. Speak to her at this location and she’ll have the option to “Rebirth.” Select Rebirth to adjust your character’s stats and respec. Each respec will cost you one Severed Braid of a Maiden item.

Just a heads up, Veltha is a very difficult boss fight. Up to this point in the game, it’ll most likely be your toughest challenge yet. I recommend purchasing an Armonia Expansion and Armonia Amplifiers from Mercante at the Theater of the Masks before attempting to challenge her. It would also be smart to use a lighter weapon for the fight since she’s very quick and windows to attack are incredibly tiny. Heavy weapons may be too slow to beat her.

How to get Severed Braid of a Maiden

Severed Braid Of A Maiden Item To Respec In Enotria The Last Song

The Severed Braid of a Maiden is a very scarce item in Enotria: The Last Song. There are a few ways to acquire one: sometimes dropped from main bosses, found in well-hidden areas/chests, or purchased from Mercante at the Theater of the Masks. Keep in mind that Mercante only has a limited stock, so make sure you use them wisely. They sell for a whopping 10,000 Memoria.

At the time of writing, it’s undetermined if there is an easier way to get the Severed Braid of a Maiden item in Enotria. I recommend only using them if you are absolutely positive that you need to respec due to losing several times to a challenging boss.

Now that you have Veltha at the Theater of the Masks and understand how to use Severed Braid of the Maiden, you can officially reset your character’s stats in Enotria: The Last Song.
