Starfield Rename Ship

Here’s how to rename your ship in Starfield:

  1. Speak to any Ship Services Technician
  2. Select the “I’d like to view and modify my ships” option
  3. Open the Ship Builder menu
  4. Open the Flight Check menu
  5. Pick the Rename Ship option on the bottom right
  6. Type in the name of your ship
  7. Confirm the new name you entered

Note: You are limited to a name with 14 characters, including spaces.

You can rename your ship in Starfield. To do so, you need to go to the Ship Builder menu. The only way to do that is to talk to the Ship Services Technician located at every spaceport in every major city or settlement.

Once you are in the Ship Builder menu, you’ll see an input on the bottom labeled “Flight Check.” Press that. Now, you’ll see a new list of button prompts at the bottom of the screen. You’ll see one that says “Rename Ship.”

Click that and a text box will pop up. Put in whatever ship name you want and save it. You have now successfully changed your ship’s name! You can do this with every ship you have and you can change the name as many times as you want.

Best ship names in Starfield

While Frontier is a really great ship name, we’ve come up with a list of great ship names that you could consider.

  • Hades
  • Scarab
  • Last Star
  • Atlas
  • Guardian
  • Apollo
  • Hammerhead
  • Infinity

Feel free to come up with whatever ship name you can think of, but the above list includes some of our favorites. In fact, I named my first Starfield ship Last Star because I thought it sounded bold and adventurous. You can also sci-fi it up by adding superfluous letters in front of the name like SR Hammerhead or X-13 Apollo.

That is how you change your ship’s name in Starfield. Remember, you can rename your ship as many times as you’d like, so there is no pressure to come up with something cool on the spot. There’s time to find a great ship name.
