Bonding with your party is a key element of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and raising your relationship levels with each character will happen naturally throughout your adventure. If you have someone special in mind for the iconic Gold Saucer date, however, you’ll need to put in some extra work.
How to Increase Relationships in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Basically, everything in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will strengthen your bonds with your party members. Choosing the right dialogue choices during cutscenes, completing side quests with certain characters, and performing Synergy attacks during combat will all increase relationship levels between party members in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
You can view your relationship with a party member at any time by pressing the L1 button. This will make smiley face icons appear above everyone’s heads. As your bonds deepen, the circle surrounding the icon will continue to fill up. When you do something to make your bonds stronger during gameplay, a notification will pop on the right-hand side of the screen stating that your relationship with a character has changed.

If you want to increase your relationship with a certain character so you can take them on a date later in the game, then you should do all of the side content associated with them. If you find an odd job or a side quest that your favorite character has some dialogue about, then you should probably do it to strengthen your bond.
Does Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Have Romance?
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth doesn’t have a traditional romance system that you’d find in other RPGs, but romance is still a huge part of the game. The date at the Gold Saucer from the original game has been greatly enhanced in Rebirth, so much so that you’ll spend the majority of the game building up your relationships with each party member to prepare for that moment.
The date scenes (and eligible characters) have been dramatically expanded, too. Not every scene is romantic, but the Gold Saucer date is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s version of “romance.” The Gold Saucer also has a ton of minigames and side content to keep you occupied when you’re not worried about dating one of your party members.
