How to raise Craftsmanship in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

How do you craft better items?

Like most open world games, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth features an item crafting system that lets you combine raw materials gathered throughout the world to create helpful items like potions and accessories for your party. The best recipes are locked behind higher Craftsmanship levels, however.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s crafting system can seem a bit convoluted at first, but once you figure out what it wants you to do, leveling up Craftsmanship and tracking down rare items required for recipes is a breeze. Here’s what you need to know about Craftsmanship in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

How to Level Up Craftsmanship in FF7 Rebirth

To level up Craftsmanship in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you need to earn Craftsmanship XP by crafting new items. The first time you craft anything in Rebirth, you’ll earn a set amount of XP. You can see exactly how much XP an item is worth in the Item Transmuter menu to the right of the item’s name and owned quantity.

You’ll only get XP the first time you craft an item. Once you’ve made an item, it’ll be marked with a green checkmark. You can still craft as many of that item as you’d like (and the recipe requirements will decrease as you craft more of them), but you won’t get any additional XP. Try to focus on accessories and items that give you the most XP per craft to raise your Craftsmanship level as fast as possible.

Since you only get XP the first time you craft an item and you only unlock a small handful of new recipes with every Craftsmanship level, you need to craft every single item on the list if you want to keep increasing your Craftsmanship. If you need crafting materials, make sure to check out the Tack Shops available at Chocobo Ranches throughout the world since they sell raw materials for Gil.

You’ll also unlock more crafting recipes by completing Excavation Intel missions in each region, which are unlocked by completing generic World Intel missions for Chadley. These crafting recipes might just give you the XP you need to push you over the edge to the next Craftsmanship level so you can avoid some of the more frustrating crafting recipes in the game. You can also unlock enhanced versions of accessories for your team in this way as well, which is a key part of creating the best party composition in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
