Rock, paper, Fire.

The Finals provides many ways to create Fire and only a couple to extinguish it. If you want to become a pro in The Finals, you need to know how to put out Fire.

What I love about The Finals is there is a counter to everything. If you’re tired of dying to Fire and want to know how to negate it, the answer is Smoke.

Whether you use a fire extinguisher, a Smoke Canister, or a Smoke Grenade, the only way to get rid of Fire in The Finals is Smoke. I tested it out myself. Whether Fire already exists in a space or you throw Fire into a space with Smoke, the Smoke will always extinguish the Fire which makes Smoke an excellent counter to Fire.

Unfortunately, or fortunately for us Light mains, the only class in The Finals with access to Smoke is the Light class. Light has a Smoke Grenade that they can use to disorient and sneak up on opponents, but they can also use it to put out Fire.

I was playing a game where my cousin was using the Goo Gun Specialization on the Heavy class but he kept getting his Goo burned by players using Pryo Grenades, Flame Canisters, or Flamethrowers. However, since I was playing Light and I had a Smoke Grenade, I was able to keep his Goo fortifications up and scorch-free thanks to the clouds of Smoke I provided.

If you’re experiencing multiple Flamethrower enemies, it’s smart to keep Smoke Grenades in your reserves as a Light player. This way, you can eliminate the flames they throw out with your Smoke.

To reiterate, though Light has easy access to Smoke, every player can use Smoke through Smoke Canisters which are cylindrical gray containers spread out across the map or fire extinguishers. The Finals has a sort of rock, paper, scissors mechanic with Smoke, Gas, and Fire, and Smoke beats Fire every day.
