Zenless Zone Zero Steam Deck setup
To play Zenless Zone Zero on your Steam Deck, you must launch the game through the Heroic Games Launcher after logging in with your Epic Games Store account. Follow the steps below to get Zenless Zone Zero up and running on your Steam Deck.
- Enter Desktop Mode on your Steam Deck.
- Select the Discover App in the bottom left corner.
- Search “Heroic Games Launcher” and install it.
- Launch Heroic Games Launcher and log in to your Epic Games Store account.
- Download Zenless Zone Zero from the store. This will download the game’s launcher.
- Open the Zenless Zone Zero launcher within Heroic and select “Get Game” to download all game files.
- Head to the Zenless Zone Zero settings page within Heroic and force the use of GE Proton 9.9.
Following the steps listed above will allow you to play Zenless Zone Zero on your trusty handheld. I recommend going into game details, selecting the triple-dots, and choosing the option to add to Steam. This will enable the ability to play Zenless Zone Zero in Game Mode instead of always having to go to Decktop Mode to play ZZZ.
Fortunately, the game runs pretty well on your Steam Deck and you can expect (mostly) a good experience. I have encountered some stuttering and frame rate dips, with occasional crashing, but nothing that ruins the enjoyment. Being able to play the game anywhere you go outweighs the few performance hiccups you may encounter.
How to get an Epic Games Store account
If you don’t currently have an Epic Games Store account to make this method work, then you can easily create one by heading to the official Epic Games website. It doesn’t take long and won’t cost you any money to register. Plus, Zenless Zone Zero is a free-to-play game, meaning playing on your Steam Deck is completely free!
