Playing with friends in an extraction shooter should be easy right? It seems simple enough in Escape from Tarkov, but for Gray Zone Warfare it’s a real headscratcher like the Anti-Cheat error. This guide will break down how to play with friends in Gray Zone Warfare and explain how the multiplayer matchmaking works. Hopefully, you’ll find your answer below.
Gray Zone Warfare: How to play with friends – Matchmaking multiplayer explained
If you get past the many errors causing problems in the game, you may have another puzzle to deal with: playing with friends. You can play technically with friends as long as they’re in the same faction as you. If they’re not, then you can’t play with friends, and you can’t switch factions. The only way it changes faction might be through a wipe which resets everything.
If everything is in order, here are the steps for playing with friends.
- In the main menu, navigate for the friend’s icon in the top right
- At the top of the menu, type in your friend’s name and they should get an invite
- Pick the mode and everyone in the squad will be deployed in the same game.
Why can’t different faction members play with each other?
Out of context, this would be a no-brainer. No matter the faction you join, you should be able to play with friends. But the factions play a role in the game’s lore. Each of the three factions is at odds with one another. It wouldn’t make any sense if players from one enemy faction would ally with a player from another enemy faction. However, even with that, I do feel like you should be able to leave a faction whenever you want to. So let’s hope as stated earlier, this feature gets overhauled.
I had a hard time picking which edition of Gray Zone Warfare I should buy. Thankfully, our guide walked me through each version to make purchasing one easier.
