The Outlast Trials: How to play multiplayer

With the first-person horror game in early access, you and your friends can for lack of a better word “enjoy” the many Saw-like puzzles. While brutal, these puzzles can be easier to go through if you have friends around.  So let’s dive into setting that up.

First and foremost, you and the other players must complete the prologue of The Outlast Trials. Afterward, head inside the Murkoff Facility, there where you’ll be able to add friends.

After you have completed the prologue, you’ll be dropped into a lobby called The Sleep Room within the facility. Once you’re in this room, look for a Terminal Menu. This menu allows you to pick the trial, invite friends, and do other things. After you’ve accessed Terminal Menu, you’ll see 4 spaces with 3 empty ones that have plus signs (+) on them. Click the signs and a menu should pop up prompting you to invite other players. You’ll be able to party up to 3 other players on your server. Additionally, you can also view your Perks, Loadouts, and Assignments in this menu as well.

The Outlast Trials

The third entry in the series plays a lot different than the other two. The first two games are linear experiences, where all you have is a camera with night vision. The only way to survive would be to run, hide, and wait for the threat to pass. For The Outlast Trials, a lot of the core gameplay stays the same, but with multiplayer. There seems to be a mix of the older Outlast games and Dead By Daylight, in that you still need to run away from enemies and can’t fight back. Rather than having another player patrolling the level, like in Dead By Daylight, it’s AI. So many things can happen, adapting will be the name of the game for most of the trials.

The Outlast Trials is in early access via Steam.
