Just like the first game, Remnant 2 is able to be played with up to two friends in three-player co-op. Pairing up with some buddies can make the arduous dungeons and bosses of Remnant 2 much easier. And it also helps to have a few more brains working together to solve the cryptic puzzles dotted throughout the game. So, here’s how you can jump into co-op in Remnant 2.
How to unlock and play co-op
The co-op mode in Remnant 2 is unavailable for the game’s opening section. So you won’t be able to dive right into the game with friends straight away. Luckily, it doesn’t take too long before the mode is unlocked. Once you reach Ward 13 you’ll have a few short objectives to accomplish. And once you do those you’ll eventually get taken to your first World Stone. As soon as you enter your first world, you’ll be able to host or join a co-op game.
Once co-op is available, you’ll get a quick pop-up from the game that lets you know about it. From there, head over to the System tab in the menu. This page gives you control over who can enter your game session be it public, friends only, or offline. Then you have the Friends page which lets you view and invite your friends into the game. To join a friends game, receive an invite from them and you’ll see a little join button appear next to their name on the Friends page.
Does Remnant 2 have splitscreen co-op?
Splitscreen co-op often feels like a luxury to have in some online multiplayer games. But when it’s there it opens up the options of who you can play with. Unfortunately, Remnant 2 does not have a splitscreen mode. Remnant: From the Ashes also lacked a splitscreen mode so it isn’t entirely surprising. But it still would have been nice to have the option there. You never know, Gunfire Games could potentially add it sometime in the future. But as of now, splitscreen is not an option in Remnant 2.
