Some of the toughest puzzles in Baldur’s Gate 3 lie within the Gauntlet of Shar. Going through the main quest, you’ll find yourself having to complete Shar’s trials to eventually find a Relic for General Ketheric Thorm. The Faith-Leap Trial is one that made me scratching my head for quite awhile, until I discovered the clue to its answer. Let’s go over how to pass the Faith-Leap Trial in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3: Faith-Leap Trial walkthrough
This was the third trial I went through, after completing the Soft-Step Trial and the Self-Same Trial. There’s an empty chasm below, with shadowy and practically-invisible paths guiding the way. How you pass the Faith-Leap Trial in Baldur’s Gate 3 is by following the hint on the floor at the start of the trial.
Before every Trial, make sure to have someone make a blood sacrifice at the Sacrificial Bowl. Since Shadowheart is a dedicated follower of Shar, I had her complete all the trials herself and make the sacrifice. Some trials are good to complete in groups, like the Self-Same one, but this one is best done alone.
You’ve probably attempted to walk over the chasm multiple times, having no idea how to tell where to step and where to avoid. If you fail three times, you die. I highly recommend you save multiple times by pressing ‘F5’ during this trial.
After so much confusion, I finally noticed the design on the floor at the beginning of the trial. See the lines of gold? That shows the safe path. The three large squares show the platforms covered in darkness and statues, which are also safe to touch.
Really take your time with this one. Have Shadowheart, or whoever is doing the trial, go completely alone. Keep checking back to the design to make sure you’re heading the right direction. As I said, quick-saving often isn’t a crime here. Eventually, you’ll make it to the end, and you can take the Umbral Orb as a prize. You’ll then see a button appear, which if pressed, will teleport you back to the start. See, that wasn’t so hard, right?
