How to open the cafeteria door in Abiotic Factor

Here's how to complete the first Abiotic Factor objective.

After completing the introduction in Abiotic Factor and starting a new save file, your first objective is to open the cafeteria door to proceed deeper into the facility and discover what’s going on.

The door is locked, though, and Abiotic Factor doesn’t give you many hints about completing objectives. You’re left to your own devices for the most part, and while you can speak to certain NPCs to get vague tips, it’s ultimately up to you to find the way forward.

To get into the cafeteria in Abiotic Factor, head into the nearby storage closet and you’ll find some air vents that you can crawl through. Dismantle all three vent covers to get some Metal Scrap, but the vent on the far right is the only one that you can get through. Continue through the vent into the next room and be prepared for some small fights.

As long as you have some nets and basic defensive tools, you should be fine. Eventually, you’ll find the scientist that you’re looking for. Dr. Jager is behind yet another locked door, and this one requires an Energy Brick to open. He’ll meet his demise shortly after you arrive, though, so you’re on your own for now.

Crafting an Energy Brick requires a Powered Crafting Bench, which is something that you’ll need to get used to if you want to survive in the facility. Proceed into the nearby room to find some broken computers and a TV playing an informative video about powering devices within the facility.

Destroy the computers to obtain Case Fans and other necessary crafting materials for the Energy Brick. Then, build a Crafting Table near the electrical outlet in the room. When building something like a Crafting Bench, you’ll see electric circles near outlets that show you the range of their wires. Place the Crafting Bench in the right spot and use a Screwdriver to put it together.

Once it’s built, just grab the wire from the electrical outlet and plug it into the Crafting Bench to power it. You can then use it to craft all sorts of advanced items including the Energy Brick that you need. Energy Bricks are hard to come by and require rare resources like Circuit Boards, so make sure to hoard any electronic crafting supplies that you find within the facility.

Once you’ve crafted the Energy Brick, just head back to the locked door and use it to unlock it. A strong creature will attack you, but you can just run past it if you’re not prepared for a fight. Continue forward and you’ll meet a security guard in the main hub area of the facility. The game opens up from here on out, so make sure you’ve got the right gear for your Abiotic Factor build so you can survive what lies ahead.
