Early on in Pacific Drive, the faceless voice over the radio welcomes you to take what you want and open any locked doors you like. This then gives you free rein to loot, pillage, and steal whatever you can get your spooky fingers on. However, getting through the doors isn’t exactly clear.
Opening a locked door in Pacific Drive
To open a locked door in Pacific Drive, you need to scan it with your goggles and have the correct tool to pry it. By holding down the L1 button on the console or the C button on the Mouse and Keyboard, you can scan the various locked doors around Pacific Drive. Once they have been scanned, the game will suggest the tool to use to open the door.
So far, I have found these various types of locked doors on Pacific Drive. These are the methods I use to open them.
- Padlock – Use the Prybar
- Lock Plate – Use the Impact Hammer
- Trunk – Use the Prybar
- Chemical Cupboards – Use the Prybar
Of course, not all doors are available to be opened. Some buildings are simply locked out forever. However, you should try to open all the various doors you can around the Pacific Drive map. The best loot is often hidden behind them.
Try all the doors
It is worth noting that it isn’t just doors on the fronts of buildings that can be scanned and opened with a tool. You can also unlock doors inside the Pacific Drive buildings with the same scanning and tool method. You will often find these doors on chemical cupboards and back rooms. Again, it is worth getting through these for the goodies inside. With the way I drive, I always need tons of Chemicals to create the Repair Putty.
When exploring the various buildings dotted around the map, make sure to bring a source of light with you. It is very easy to miss valuable loot when wandering around the dark, powerless rooms of Pacific Drive. As an early game item, you can use road flares, but as you progress, you will finally gain access to the Flashlight. This makes exploration behind those locked doors much easier.
