Climbing is an essential part of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. But when there’s pesky rain and lightning, climbing suddenly becomes nearly impossible since Link just slides down slick surfaces. In Breath of the Wild this was one of the most annoying things to deal with. But, in Tears of the Kingdom, there’s finally a way to deal with slick surfaces. So, here’s a quick guide to making the Sticky Elixir in Tears of the Kingdom.
Tears of the Kingdom: How to make Sticky Elixir
A simple solution to dealing with rain and lightning is to just change the time of day. But that’s not always the best option, and Link has places to be. So it’s good to have a few bottles of Sticky Elixir in your inventory. This potion allows Link to climb any wet surface during a storm. It’s also pretty easy to make as long as you have the ingredients.
To make the Sticky Elixir, you need to have either a Sticky Frog or a Sticky Lizard. These can be found in lots of places, but mostly in caves and wells. So be sure to pick up any lizards that you see crawling on the ground. Then you’ll need one of any kind of Monster Part. It’s best to use cheaper materials here like the Keese Wing. The duration of the Elixir will be shorter with more common ingredients, but you probably don’t need this elixir to last long anyway.
A Sticky Elixir made with a Sticky Frog and a Keese Wing will last just over three minutes. This should be more than enough time to climb bigger surfaces. But if you want a longer-lasting potion, you can always use more expensive parts to increase the duration. The beauty of Tears of the Kingdom is that the Sticky Elixir isn’t your only option for scaling slick walls. If you really wanted to you could probably scrap together a hot air balloon too. Either way, make sure you’ve got at least a few Sticky Elixirs in your pocket.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available on Nintendo Switch.
