Rise of the Ronin is the first Team Ninja RPG with a big focus on branching storylines and dialogue choices, and you can talk your way out of certain situations by using Speechcraft skills like Intimidate, Liar, and Persuade.
The game doesn’t tell you how to unlock these skills, however, and you’ll see red text underneath locked dialogue options if you don’t have them unlocked. Thankfully, each type of Speechcraft is very easy to unlock in Rise of the Ronin if you spend some time in the open world completing side activities and optional quests.
How to Unlock Speechcraft in Rise of the Ronin
To unlock Speechcraft in Rise of the Ronin, open the Stats menu to view the skill tree. You’ll find Speechcraft Liar, Persuade, and Intimidate on the Intellect, Charm, and Strength pages respectfully. These cost special skill points that are unique to each stat instead of the generic skill points that you get from leveling up.
How to Get Special Skill Points in Rise of the Ronin
To unlock special skill points in Rise of the Ronin, you can either complete special activities found in the open world like Firearm Training or Gliding Training, strengthen your bonds with allies, gain Karma by completing open world activities and restoring Public Order, or complete certain side quests that have them listed in the rewards section.
You can also use special items called Treatises to gain skill points for your desired stat. You can purchase a Treatise of Strength, Dexterity, Charm, or Intellect from collectible vendors like the cat lady in the Yokohama Pleasure House or the Official that offers rewards for defeating Fugitives. These can also be found in chests on occasion, so make sure to complete Public Order bandit camps whenever you have the chance.
You only need a few of these rare skill points to unlock the Speechcraft skills, but you’ll need a bunch of them to unlock some of the stronger perks in the game. Thankfully, accumulating Karma by completing open-world activities is an easy enough way to get a ton of skill points, so just grinding side quests and optional content is the way to go.
