If you keep your fingers crossed and the stars align, you can have a great time with randoms, but nothing beats heists with your buddies. Payday 3 supports crossplay, so no matter what devices your friends have, it’s never been easier to squad up and have some fun. Let me show you how to invite and play with friends in Payday 3, along with a few things to watch out for.

The Social screen is a little hidden on Payday 3 and is relegated to a small button at the bottom of the screen (pictured above).

In this menu, you can enter your friend’s username into the box at the top. You can use their Payday Account name or their username on whatever platform they are on. I’ve not tested every combination, but I was able to find my friends on PlayStation via their PSN username as a PC player.

Once you’ve found your friend, send them a Friend Request (‘T’ on PC), and it should appear in the ‘Outgoing Friends Requests’ menu on the right. When your friend receives the request, it will appear in the ‘Incoming Friends Requests’ list for them to accept.

How do I play with my friends?

You’ll need to ‘party up’ with your friends to join lobbies together. Enter the Social screen as before and invite them from your online friends list on the left. When they accept the invite, you’ll know you’re together as it will say ‘Social 2/4’ at the bottom.

That’s all there is to it, and your Payday 3 account can be used on different devices if you play on a PC and a console. This is how everything should work, but if you’re having problems with invites appearing, you’re not alone.

Why aren’t my invites showing up?

At the time of writing, Payday 3 is suffering from severe server issues. I play on PC and have had numerous problems inviting friends on both Xbox and PlayStation platforms. I hate giving this advice, but I recommend waiting if you have problems. My invites took multiple minutes to show up in my friends’ inboxes. In some cases, they couldn’t accept them immediately. Hopefully, this clears up as servers settle down, as Payday 3 really is at its best with a squad at your side.
