How to get to the Lower Deeps in Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria

In Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, it’ll become very apparent that you need to find your way into the Lower Deeps when more evil shadow blocks that other doorway in Moria.

Getting to the Lower Deeps, however, is a lot easier said than done.

Getting to the Lower Deeps in Return to Moria

Getting to the Lower Deeps in Return to Moria requires you to thoroughly explore the Mines of Moria to find all the things you need. Let’s get started.

Finding the Crystal Descent in Return to Moria

Getting to the Lower Deeps requires travel through the Crystal Descent, so let’s find that first. The Crystal Descent will be one of the generated rooms in the Mines of Moria, so you’ll essentially have to look around to find it. You’ll know when you see it, and the game will prompt you about your next steps.

Make sure you’re well equipped before going out into the mines, and make sure you’ve got a game plan in mind. Keep exploring new branches until you’ve either hit a dead-end or the Crystal Descent.

Once there, you’ll notice that you need to rebuild the Mine Hoist to get down there. This will require 15 Black Diamonds, 20 Elven Wood, and 30 Natural Fiber. You’ll need to amass these resources before you can get anywhere.

Make sure to repair the Mapstone that’s next to the Mine Hoist for easier travel!

Getting Black Diamonds in Return to Moria

Getting Elven Wood and Natural Fiber are easy enough, and you’ve probably got the required amount already. Elven trees in the Elven Quarter and Cave Spiders will see to those needs. Black Diamonds are probably the hardest material for you to acquire.

If you haven’t already, you need to venture into the Orc Town that’s nestled somewhere in the Mines of Moria. Like you did to find the Crystal Descent, explore areas you haven’t explore yet, and soon you’ll come across the fortified Orc Town.

You can open Orc Chests to get some Black Diamonds here, but you won’t get enough. To get all the Black Diamonds you need, you’ll have to venture deep into Orc Town and defeat Bolgakh, the boss of the Orcs in the Mines of Moria. He is tough, but blocking does negate all damage. Simply hit him once after he tries to hit you, and avoid the other goblins and orcs, as they’ll keep spawning.

You’ll be richly rewarded for this feat, and you’ll get enough Black Diamonds for the Mine Hoist.

Rebuilding the Mine Hoist in Return to Moria

With all the things you need, you can use the Mapstone in your base to travel to the Mine Hoist in the Crystal Descent and repair it. You are now free to go down and enter the Lower Deeps. There is a Mapstone right at the bottom of the Crystal Descent, allowing for instant transportation between the Lower Deeps and your base.

I hope this has helped you, fellow Dwarf, and that you’re journey through the Lower Deeps isn’t too difficult. For more Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria help, tunnel on over to PC Invasion,
