The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a few nods to Tingle, the beloved character everyone loved in Majora’s Mask. The inclusion of Tingle’s Hood is one such nod, and you can get the gear in an unexpected place. Here is our guide explaining how to get Tingle’s Hood at the Statue of the Eighth Heroine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Tears of the Kingdom – how to get the Tingle’s Hood at the Statue of the Eighth Heroine
The Statue of the Eighth Heroine played a role in Breath of the Wild, and now it’s back. This time, you can find Tingle’s Hood when you venture inside the cave the statue blocks.
To get Tingle’s Hood at the Statue of the Eighth Heroine, use a mirror to reflect sunlight on the statue’s chest. There is massive gem embedded. When you direct a beam of light for several seconds, you’ll cause a gate to open. This moment feels a lot like Ocarina of Time, wherein players had to redirect sunlight to solve similar puzzles.
Start by finding the statue itself. Its location, northeast of Otutsum Shrine and northwest from the Gerudo Summit Chasm, appears in the above screenshot.
The statue stands along the cliff wall. You will need to drop over the edge of a high point and glide down to reach it. After taking a look at the gem and a locked gate, examine the nearby canyon walls. On one ledge, you should see a treasure chest. Cross over to it and open it to find Mirror (3). You can use one of the mirrors to open the dungeon.
When I visited the ledge, it was shortly after midday in sunny weather. The ledge was bathed in sunlight, so I took out a Mirror and set it on the ledge. It immediately caught the sunlight and reflected a beam. However, the positioning wasn’t quite right. I picked up the Mirror and tried to adjust its aim, but things are pretty touchy. Just as I almost had it, overhead clouds blocked out the sun for a bit. When light returned, the new beam shone on the gem across the way. After a few seconds, a gate opened. You may have a similar experience.
Jump from your perch and glide over to the statue. You’ll wind up a bit lower than you need to be, but you should have plenty of stamina left to climb to the high ground and pass through the opening. This leads to the discovery of Statue of the Eighth Heroine Cave.
Start into the cave, but move slowly. Gibdo enemies lurk here, and quite a lot of them. Advancing slowly with a bow ready, I fired Arrows fused with Shock Fruit. That approach eliminated all of them (including a winged variety) before they could get close. If you aren’t equipped with that stuff, use some other elemental attack.
After defeating the monsters, look around for a nearby sand pile. You should see a half-buried Fan piece. Use the Ultrahand ability to pull it from the sand. Then carry it over to the far end of the chamber. There, a treasure chest waits in a gazebo. Set the Fan in front of the sand and power it on, blowing away the sand. Then open the chest, and that’s how to get Tingle’s Hood. In my case, this also completed the Misko’s Treasure: Heroines Manuscript I had forgotten about.
