How to get the Starborn ship and armor in Starfield

With great power comes great sacrifice.

Starfield is huge. To say it is overflowing with content would be putting it lightly. Like any game, however, no matter the content, there are a group of gilded items that everyone looks up to get, and only a handful of the community ever will. Whether it’s because they’re rare, or the best – or both, there are certain items that every player will boast about. In Starfield, you can’t get much better than the Starborn ship and Starborn armor. Getting them, however, is no walk in the park, and they will cost a lot more than your credits.

How to get a Starborn Ship in Starfield

Starborn ships are sought after not just for their stats, but their unique looks and behaviours. You’ll feel truly like a space explorer as you enjoy the bizarre look of your ship.

Can you steal a Starborn Ship?

It’s a Bethesda game, so you’ll probably be looking to steal everything you can. From sweet rolls to succulents, everything is up for grabs. Or at least we all hope. The Starborn ships are, unfortunately, impossible to steal. Even if you somehow manage to get your way into the ship, the game outright refuses you the ability to fly off with it. This is disappointing to hear, but very understandable.

Earning a Starborn Ship

So, now that we’ve covered that you can’t steal a Starborn ship, let’s go over how you get one. Without spoiling the plot, all I’ll say is that you gain a Starborn ship once you ascend your game to New Game Plus (NG+). This means starting again from the beginning. This is a huge cost and will be deemed not worth it by some players. Others, however, will happily part with their earthly possessions (spacely possessions?) to gain the Starborn Guardian. Not only does it look cool, but it has great stats:

  • Reactor: Class A – 22
  • Crew Capacity: 5
  • Jump Distance: 30 light years
  • Shield: 630
  • Sol Lasers: 24
  • Torpedoes: 70
  • Hull: 649
  • Cargo Capacity: 950

As you keep ascending to higher NG+’s, certain stats will improve. The reactor, crew capacity, fuel, jump distance, and cargo capacity will all get better and better with each new addition of the Starborn Guardian.

This isn’t all you get for ascending your save, however.

How to get Starborn Armor in Starfield

A Starborn in Starfield

Starborn Armor in Starfield is obtained in the same way as the Starborn ship, the Starborn Guardian, is obtained. Through ascending your game to NG+. Again, for late-game spoiler reasons, that is all I will say. Unlike the ship, the armour doesn’t simply get better and better with each reset, but the looks also change, providing another set of items for ambitious collectors.

There are new outfits for all the way until NG+10, and each suit not looks different and has superior stats, but each will have different perks, allowing for a diverse wardrobe of powerful suits for any occasion. Is gaining better suits and a cool new ship worth the reset, however?

I personally think that it’s a great alternative to starting a new save due to the desire to want to experience the game with a different build. Instead of resetting that way, simply enter a NG+ (if you can). That way, you’ll also have a powerful and cool new ship and armor to help you out. If you don’t want to use them, then simply having them is something.

I hope you enjoyed our guide, to help you decide if the sacrifice of NG+ is worth the armour and ship. There is a load more PC Invasion Starfield content just waiting for you to make landfall.
