How to get the Slammer Sword in Destiny 2 and the God Roll

This Sword is Top Tier

The Slammer is a Legendary Stasis Sword with an incredible pool of perks. The possibilities are enough to excite any Guardian, so let me show you how to get the Slammer Sword in Destiny 2 and the God Roll.

How to get the Slammer Stasis Sword in Destiny 2

You can earn the Slammer Sword by completing a Strike from the Vanguard Nightfall Playlist. The Sword isn’t a guaranteed drop, but there’s a chance you can obtain it upon every Nightfall completion.

We don’t have exact numbers, but the drop rate doesn’t seem high. I’ve run the Nightfall several times and have yet to earn my first Slammer.

Any Guardian can get the regular Slammer Sword, but you can also obtain the Adept version by completing the Grandmaster Nightfall. GM Nightfalls are among the most challenging content in Destiny 2, so don’t sweat it if you can’t beat them. The regular Slammer is still an excellent Sword.

What is the Slammer God Roll in Destiny 2?

The Slammer is sought after because it can roll with so many fantastic traits. It’s also the first Stasis Sword that’s available in Destiny 2 outside of events. As the weapon has such a desirable perk pool, a few combinations work nicely. That said, here’s the God Roll I’m chasing:

If you’re looking into God Rolls for the first time, it’s worth noting that the Traits are the most crucial part of the roll. Everything else is a welcome bonus.

Blade: Jagged Edge

Jagged Edge or Honed Edge are great with the Slammer. Both of these Blades offer a slight increase in damage. The Jagged Edge does a little more damage at the expense of Ammo Capacity.

Guard: Swordmaster’s Guard

The Swordmaster’s Guard increases the Slammer’s charge rate. We lose some defensive stats, but I prefer to get out of the way instead of blocking with a Sword, so this is a nonissue.

Trait 1: Eager Edge

This unique Perk increases the distance of your Sword Lunge immediately after switching to the weapon. Eager Edge might sound unremarkable, but you can travel an obscene distance with this Perk by constantly switching weapons and lunging.

The timing is a little awkward, but Eager Edge is perfect for repositioning. You can even cheese some parts of the game with the extended lunge.

Trait 2: Bait and Switch/Cold Steel

There are a couple of great options for your second Perk. I’m aiming for Bait and Switch, which increases the Slammer’s damage by 30% if you quickly deal damage with your other weapons first.

30% is an impressive boost and will make cutting through Champions much easier.

Another great option is Cold Steel, which slows down targets if you strike them with a Powered Hit. With how prevalent Stasis is this season, the Trait works perfectly if you use that Subclass. Even if you’re not running a Stasis build, the slowing effect is excellent for crowd control and taking the sting out of tougher opponents.

The Slammer isn’t on the level of Exotic Weapons, but it’s a solid legendary all the same. If you’re taking a break from the Nightfall grind, don’t forget to hit the Guardian Games for a shot at the event-exclusive Memento.
